Child Care - Kopper Kids

The Family and Consumer Science Department believes there is a critical need to prepare high school students with adequate knowledge and skills regarding appropriate child care techniques for the home and work place. Therefore, a full-time, on-site child care facility is operated in conjunction with the Child Development/Early Childhood Education Curriculum.

 

The purpose of this class is to teach high school students the proper care of children 6 weeks to 5 years of age. Kopper Kids Child Care Lab is provided for employees of Bingham High School, Jordan School District and in some cases provided for the community. The care will be provided by the students that have completed a successful year as a preschool teacher or have completed 1 semester of a child development or ECE class. They are trained and supervised by their instructor, Kimberly Black and at least 2 accompanying adult aides.

 

Our objective is to plan a daily balance of reading readiness (phonics), math, science, exploration time, circle time, activity time, play time and nap/rest time. We want to help each child develop their Cognitive, Social and Physical skills at their own pace and help children make their play productive and educational by providing each age group with appropriate activities and toys.

 

Hours of Operation: We operate in conjunction with the traditional high school calendar. When school is not in session, the Child Care Lab will be closed. We rely on the student teachers to maintain the child/teacher ratios. We are open from 7:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday.

 

Tuition/Fees: The following prices will be charged as follows based on 5 days per week, 9 hours per day.

 

• $50.00 non-refundable registration fee per child will be added to your Brightwheel account, once you have been accepted. 

 

RATES FOR FULL TIME CHILD CARE 

• Infants (6 weeks to 23 months) $/month

• Toddlers (2 years) $/month

• Toddlers (3 years) $/month

• Preschoolers (4-5 years) $/month (includes sessions of preschool)

(A 5% discount is given to families who are enrolled full time with two or more children enrolled.)

 

**In some instances we offer PART TIME care options are as follows: 

1. 7:00-11:30 am Infants $/Toddlers $

2. 11:30- 4 pm Infants $/Toddlers $

3. A Day Only 7-4pm $/Toddlers $

4. B Day Only 7-4 pm $/Toddlers $

5. 7:00-1:00 pm Infants $/Toddlers $ 

6. 11:00- 4 :00 pm Infants $/Toddlers $

 

Kindergarten Rate (Child must be enrolled in kindergarten and follow the JSD schedule) $ (August and May are each $)

Nutrition: Our Toddlers and Preschoolers will be served breakfast, lunch and 2 snacks on a daily basis. Our Infants will be fed according to their individual needs.

If you would like to be put on a wait list in Kopper Kids Child Care Lab, please email Pepper Poulsen for availability ([email protected]). We can only accept a total of 35 children, but each age group has only a specific amount of spots available. You will be required to sign up for the entire school year.  We do not offer drop-in care.
