8th amendment assignment:
1. Open and read the PDF entitled, "8th amendment reading."
2. After reading part 2, there is a prompt that asks you to choose a side either in favor of the death penalty (death penalty supporters) or against the death penalty (death penalty abolitionists). Once you have picked a side, you will write a 1 to 1 1/2 page essay defending your side. You should use the reading, as well as the internet to justify your side. The essay should have regular margins, Times New Roman 12 font and can be double spaced.
3. After you are done with your essay, complete the reading about juveniles and the death penalty. You will then write another essay defending or opposing the use of the death penalty for juveniles. The essay should be 1 to 1 1/2 page essay, use the court cases cited in the reading to help justify your response as well as the internet.
4. Once you have completed your essays you should print them either at home or in the media center (before or after school).
